Your Weirdness Is The Key To A Successful Personal Brand
Unlock 1million followers
Everybody is creating content now
Because the benefits of building a personal brand have been understood by the public
But with so many people creating on so many different social media platforms
A major problem has arisen:
Uniformity in generic content.
It is bad enough that almost nobody is dishing out quality ideas anymore
But now even their generic/watered-down content gets copied and posted by many other “creators"
It's like a giant cuckoo clock system where thousands of people repeat the same idea
Which was never even good to begin with.
If you're currently creating content, you must have seen a lot of the same ideas being parroted constantly
Perhaps you have also partaken in this because of the temptation for engagement
I understand.
It can be difficult to resist mimicking an already successful post
However, let me show you the disadvantages of relying on generic content:
Nobody respects a copycat.
People like to be led so they respect authority.
In this age where ideas build authority
You cannot build any if you can't come up with impactful ideas.
If your entire content strategy is to repurpose the ideas of thought leaders in your niche, you are guaranteed to continuously live in their shadow.
You will never stand out
Therefore will never build up authority with your content.
YOU WILL BE FORGOTTEN
When you're constantly in the shadow of the greats, you will inevitably be forgotten.
Throughout history, no one remembers the followers of great men
No matter how much they copied them.
You will only be remembered if your ideas are remembered and stand the test of time.
Think of any historically remembered person
You will immediately connect an action, statement or even way of life with them
Because they had characteristics that were worth remembering, they were remembered.
This holds even today
If you want to be remembered, say or do something unique to your character
Something out of the norms
Something far from generic.
You will attract people who want to see more of that difference.
Your tribe will find you
And you will lead.
MAKES IT EASIER FOR THOSE WITH ORIGINALITY TO SHINE
It's easy to spot colour on white cloth, no matter how tiny the spot.
Once you fade into the crowd of parrots
You inevitably make the real idea creators shine even more.
Now I don't need to remind you how much you want to avoid that
Because there's nothing more damaging to a creator spirit than being nothing but a trend chaser( at least to me)
You create
You attract attention
You suffer rejection daily
Why shouldn't you be recognized for your efforts?
This is how a creator– a true creator should think.
You must take pride in standing out
You must take pride in being weird
Societal conformity should mean very little to your creative persona.
You must always want to be a triangle among circles.
Embrace your quirks
It's your personality that will shape your ideas
The more true you are to yourself, the more original your content becomes.
THE CURE
So do we ensure we don't get lost in the crowd?
The answer is simple but at the same time it's not easy.
I know you've heard the phrase “be yourself" so many times in your life that it's almost sickening (for me at least)
Because the truth is, you don't even know who the f*ck you are.
I'm not here to lecture you on the importance of being yourself
I'm here to show you the benefit of being weird.
Confused?
Don't be. We are all weird even if you don't want to admit it.
You have opinions and thoughts that don't quite fit the norms.
Lean into them.
It's hard to do since from childhood we've been brought up to adapt and not step on anyone's toes.
We've been told continuously to fit in that so many people lost awareness of their uniqueness.
But it's still there
All you need to do is zoom out and pin point what makes you different.
What it is that you have that only a few can relate with
Then use that as a core factor of your personal brand.
For me, I love the darkness.
Not just the night but the creatures of the night as well.
I'm that kid that always roots for the villain because I seem to understand their thought process.
I've been called a sociopath and psycopath more times than I can count
I've even been called evil
But I embrace that side of me.
That's why my brand has a dark feel
And my messages hardly ever sound cheerful.
That's my quirk
You could be the complete opposite of me
You could like unicorns and rainbows
You could be obsessed with fighting
Whatever it is, embrace it.
Your personal brand should be where you remove the societal mask you've been wearing.
It should be where you project who you want to be and work hard to manifest it.
Lean into your weirdness then you'll be ready for the next step:
Creating original content.
Now you know how your brand should feel
The next step is to create content that can be tracked down to only you.
The best way to do this is to leverage your experiences
Experiences build perspective
And since we all have unique experiences, we also all have unique perspectives regarding various topics.
So create content based on those.
Now that you know how to create original content
The next challenge you'll most likely face is consistently coming up with ideas to create about.
The best way to overcome this challenge is by following my Limitless writing template.
It's a mini course with a notion template that helps you:
Generate ideas
Turn them to long form writing for authority
Break it down to short form content for clarity
Then create tweets and single posts for other platforms to grab attention
My limitless writing template is FREE (will become paid very soon)
